ART DIRECTION: fashion

For me, fashion is all about life style. It’s about making the products look appealing and tangible. Although colors, patterns and trends change from year to year, there is a classic style that remains constant. With several years of study in fashion design, I opted for fashion art direction instead of design. Over the years, I have produced and directed all components of domestic and foreign location photo shoots including: site selection, transportation, lodging, budgeting, crew selection. Negotiated with resorts, hotels and historical foundations to secure unusual opportunities for location photography. It has always been exciting and rewarding.

Roles: budgeting, scheduling, concept, design, art direction, overall project coordination, branding, production.

Ragsland this was a new concept presentation showing the use of models instead of shooting the clothing flat. I felt that it added energy to the product. Shown: 2 cover concepts and 2 spreads. • Zales this was also a concept for their annual bridal catalog. The exterior wrap is vellum with the title and logo printed on the vellum, giving the illusion of a veil. All photography was either stock or picked up. Shown: cover and 3 spreads. • Neiman Marcus as Senior Art Director, I worked on many different projects, including fashion and home furnishings catalogs. I was responsible for establishing project budgets, schedules, design, art direction, managing staff art directors, selection / supervision of freelance teams for projects, in studio and on location, plus I helped to develop location prospects both locally and abroad. Shown: multiple covers including a specialty catalog featuring jewelry and accessories. • Dillard’s I created concepts for the entire Mother’s Day campaign, including in-store signage which was produced in house. Using those concepts, I designed / directed the specialty catalog. Shown: cover and 2 spreads.
